I am filing my 2016 taxes by mail. I do not have my original W-2, but I have a scan copy of it. Will that be okay to mail in with my application? how do I get original?

Is there any option to not having your original W-2? How do I go about having the original?

According to the IRS mailing directions, you need to send a copy of your W-2 form. So the scanned copy should be fine.
