I am Canadian working in US. I got a T5 for my Canadian bank. How do I find out the value to put on the box 6 on 1099-INT form "Foreign tax paid"?

I'm not an accountant and I'm not familiar with Canadian tax laws but I've used 1099s a lot, for a variety of reasons. I'm pretty sure the 1099-INT is for interest income. Are you sure the 1099 you got from your US employer said 1099-INT rather than 1099-MISC ?  The TurboTax software should walk you through additional sources of income. Also I could be totally wrong about all of this. As I said, I'm neither an accountant nor an internationally employed contractor. Good luck!
