I am attempting to pay with a credit card. It is returning an error. The credit card and the taxpayer are different names. Is this the problem? What is the workaround?

It is usually not the name on the card but the billing address on the card is different than the mailing address on the return.

If this is the situation here is what you can do :

1... go back to the MY INFO section and change the address to the billing address on the CC

2 ... go back to the FILE tab step 1 and pay for the return

3 ... return to the MY INFO section and change the address back

4 ... complete the REVIEW tab again then continue thru the FILE tab to efile

What exactly are you trying to pay: TT fees, or actual taxes due?
