I am a legal US citizen married to a British citizen.Married Aug '15,separated Dec '15.She was stateside only 2 weeks,has never had US income nor taxes.Can I file single?

If you never obtained a legal divorce under any state or country jurisdiction, then you are still married and must file as married filing separately, unless you have a child dependent who qualifies you to file as head of household.
