It depends -
If at the beginning of the year, you were a nonresident then you can put $0 amount on line 36 , line 53, line 61 and line 72 of the 1040NR if during your nonresident period you had no US sourced income, print "dual-status statement" on the first page and attach to your Form 1040 (with "dual-status return" printed at the top of page one of Form 1040).
If you are a nonresident alien at the end of the year, then you would have to include your amounts on page 2 of 1040NR for the total tax, any payments and any refund/due amount. You would print "dual-status return" on page one and include as an attachment to Form 1040 (with dual-status statement" printed at the top of page one of form 1040).
TurboTax does not support dual-status filings.

Thank you! Thank you! I am in my arriving year. So was non-resident for January - Feb 2nd, and resident Feb 3rd - Dec 31st. I will put zero's on the lines you listed.
and remember to print that additional information on top of each Form and attach the 1040NR (as statement) to 1040 (as return) 🙂
Thank you! Do I leave teh dates at the top of both 1040 and 1040NR blank? Or should I put the dates that 1040 and 1040NR apply? So for 1040 it would be Feb 3rd 2017 - Dec 31 2017, and for 1040NR Jan 1 2017 - Feb 2nd 2017?
do I need to complete the schedule A and Schedule OI part of the form?
