I already filed jointly with my spouse on her account. Do I need to do anything on my own account?

Are you newly married?

If so, and you were added as a spouse to her account and filed jointly there is nothing more to do with your old account. You can continue to keep the account should you need to reference prior tax documents and files.

Hey there,

Yes, we got married last year in May so it was our first time filing together. I just kept getting the email for the tax deadlines on my account and wanted to be sure I was all set.

Thank you!

Hey!

Did you ever get a resolution to this? I am in the same boat. I keep getting the alerts that say I need to file and don't see any record of filing on my profile. However, I am sure my wife filed on her profile.

Thanks!

@Guest121212 You are posting to an older thread.   When you file a joint return you only use ONE online account to prepare that return.   If you used your spouse's account to prepare it and file it, then it was done.   You do not do anything whatsoever about it in "your" old account.   Ignore any alerts.   TT accounts do not "know" about each other, so the old account is just generating alerts that you can ignore.  Do keep a record of how to access your old online account so that you can access your old returns if ever necessary.   TT saves returns for seven years.
