I accidentally put the wrong address when I filed head of household. I put my parents address instead where I reside now. Am I gonna get into trouble when they too file?

My parents are worried that we are both going to get into trouble because I put the wrong address. Are we?

These things happen.  We understand, and we're here to support you.  Your error you disclosed isn't a matter that would increase or decrease your refund or debt from/to the IRS.

  1. Don't worry.
  2. Wait until your refund is received, if you expect one.
  3. Log in to your TurboTax Online account.
  4. Choose to amend your return.
  5. Print your amended return.
  6. Mail as instructed.

This ensures the IRS is acting on one return at a time and there are no conflicts of two returns in separate sections being acted on simultaneously.

TurboTax will walk you through step by step. Amended returns cannot be e-filed, the IRS requires they be mailed due to a separate office handles amended returns.
