how would I be able to get my 5 digit signature id pin ? this is my first year doing my taxes myself

The 5 digit e-filing PIN is required to electronically file your tax return.  

 

You choose a 5 digit e-filing PIN the first time you e-file, and use it every year thereafter.

 

You may be able to view the 5 digit e-filing PIN on last year's IRS form 8879 to the right of your signature.

 

 

If you don't remember it, you can use your AGI (adjusted gross income) from last year's tax return.
