The tax file you need to transfer into 2016 ends in .tax2015 and should be in your Documents then in a Turbo Tax folder.  You don't need to install the prior programs.  And if you haven't done it each year you should  open each year and save it as a .pdf file.  I would just copy the whole Turbo Tax folder (under Documents) to a flash drive to copy to the new computer.

If you have a PC, go to documents>TurboTax and copy the tax file for 2015 to a flash drive and copy it to your new computer.

Transferring from an old mac 10.7.5 to a new mac was not working properly. (It was making an untransferable .pdf file)     Finally discovered that if I made a DUPLICATE (file Duplicate not file Save)  of the tax return and then copied it to the flash drive it saved with the proper extension and worked fine!   Was told I may have to manually insert the data.  Don't worry - that is NOT the case! Hope this saves someone a few hours!
