how to switch primary and spouse name on state return

federal return has me listed as primary and my spouse as spouse however on the state return, he needs to be listed as primary since it was only his earnings in that state

With online TurboTax there is no way to do that.  With desktop there is a work around where you prepare two returns, one for filing jointly and the other for filing separate, then use the filing separate for the state return, if the state allows that.  Rules vary by state.
