how to recover section179 which was deleted

Hi,

I used section 179 in 2021 federal tax return for newly purchased appliance for rental property. TurboTax did not carry over the amount in California State tax return in 2022 (which does not have section 179 and should deduction the expense over 5 years). During trouble shooting this issue, we deleted section 179 by mistake. After this, I noticed that TurboTax added two years of deduction of that appliance purchased last year as depreciation expense(2/5 of total amount paid). I wanted to recover the section 179 but do not know how. I definitely do not want to re-import from 2021 and re-enter all numbers. Please help.

Thanks,

Belinda

If you edit the asset entry TurboTax should ask you for the prior section 179 depreciation taken. Once entered, everything else should calculate properly for the current and future years. If not, you can delete the asset and re-enter it, and you will be asked for the prior depreciation and other depreciation taken if any.
