I assume you are using desktop software (CD/download) as opposed to Online TurboTax (web version.)
What type of tax file--PDF or the *.taxYYYY data file? If you're asking how to open the tax data file, you have to install the corresponding year's software on your laptop, and then you can open the data file with the TurboTax program. Does your laptop have Windows or Mac OS?
