How to find status of Refund for previous year tax return (2020)

I filed my last years tax return (not for 2021 but for 2020) with an extension in August of 2021.  I have not received the refund, How do I check on the status of a tax return fro 2020?  I have tried to use the IRS app IRS2Go but does not seem to check for 2020.

You will have to contact the IRS for the status of a 2020 federal tax refund.  The IRS website for a refund status is now only for tax year 2021.

Call the IRS: 1-800-829-1040 hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Monday-Friday
When calling the IRS do NOT choose the first option re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.
So after first choosing your language, then do NOT choose Option 1 (refund info). Choose option 2 for "personal income tax" instead.
Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".
Then press 3 "for all other questions."
Then press 2 "for all other questions."
- When it asks you to enter your SSN or EIN to access your account information, don't enter anything.
- After it asks twice, you will get another menu.

Press 2 for personal or individual tax questions.
Then press 4 for all other inquiries
It should then transfer you to an agent.

Yes the answer is good, but the IRS just says they can't handle the call.

The answer is good, but unfortunately ineffective. The IRS has this line unavailable and after going through all the steps it's ends with an automated message saying there are no operators currently handling this line.
