How to calculate MAGI from AGI?

I see form 8582 provides MAGI (Modified Adjusted Gross Income).  Is this value trustable and accurate to be used to figure out eligibility and other details for ROTH IRA contribution limits.?

Alternatively:

Or if I have a completely filled out Form 1040 in TurboTax, can line 11(AGI, Adjusted Gross Income) and other lines in Form 1040 be used to figure out MAGI?

MAGI varies depending on what limitation it is being used for. It may be line 11  or it may not be. Use worksheet 2-1 in IRS PUB 590-A.  then look at table 2-1 to see if your Roth IRA contribution must be reduced. if so use

worksheet 2-2 to figure the limitation

Thank you.

Now I am learning that MAGI is not one unique number.  Meaning MAGI for ROTH IRA is different for MAGI for some other purpose.  The Form 590A you provided was helpful.  According to 590-A worksheet (page 40), MAGI for ROTH IRA in my case is probably the official number to go with.  The MAGI given in TurboTax Form 8582 line7 is different and is something else!!

Thank you for the link to form 590A.
