How is TurboTax showing I have a $12 business income deduction this year for the 1st time, although I have no business of my own (I do have "Dividends" from a 1099-INT)?

I have never had a Business Income Deduction show up in TurboTax, and I can't tell where it's coming from, but it concerns me.

Look for sec 199A dividends.  Your form 1099-DIV shows all dividends in box 1a.

  • The qualified dividends are marked in 1b.
  • The same for box 5, it notes only qualified sec 199a dividend income. No work for you to do.

See Instructions for 1099-DIV for full details on each box and line..
