How does change of your driver's license ID affect efiling your tax?

In Maryland, Maryland Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Administration (MDOT MVA) is in process of gradually replacing traditional Soundex Identification Number on Maryland Driver's License over few years.

Will IRS computers automatically recognize new Maryland Driver's License ID number when I efile?  Or if I have to contact IRS to update my Driver's License ID number on my tax account, how do I do that?   I don't want IRS computer to reject my efile because my Driver's License ID number changed.

The IRS does not look at your drivers license or even require you to enter it when you e-file.   Entering your license adds an extra layer of security but you can even skip it if you want to.  Some states are more picky and want the drivers license entered in order to allow e-filing.
