How do you stop TurboTax from taking the Foreign Tax Credit on the Free Edition?

If you have any foreign taxes paid, say on your 1099-DIV, then TurboTax tries to force you to upgrade because it wants you to take the Foreign Tax Credit and submit a Form 1116. I don't want to take the Foreign Tax Credit.

In the Deluxe edition, you can delete Form 1116 (by going to Tool -> Delete a document).

How in the Free Edition can you prevent TurboTax from forcing you to upgrade and take the Foreign Tax Credit?

regardless of version if you don't enter the foreign tax info there will be no 1116 and thus no issue.  The IRS doesn't care whether you report it or not.

in some cases, numbers get locked into the TT file so delete the form that has the FTC and close saving  reopen and enter info on the form without the FTC info

after deleting the FTC info you may need to delete the 1116.
