@gabriel18

1)  Windows Desktop software?

2)  is the current field showing a "$0" that you cannot change? and not a simple "$" ?

@gabriel18

But is it the "Desktop" software?  or Online software?

...........Assuming you are using the Desktop software..........

For that one:

1) ...first try a double-click on the entry field to see if it will let you enter anything

2)   IF that doesn't work, save your file, shut down TurboTax entirely, and try the following:

.......TTX should only be installed and run as an Administrator.....not in some guest account without administrator privileges...but it's hard to know each person's exact setup.

But even if you did that already, there is an internal setting that sometimes needs to be implemented also.

So...Save your tax file and Exit TurboTax....then:

 1)  right click TurboTax 2019 icon

2)  Select  … Properties

3)  Select the  Compatibility tab

4) In the "Settings" box … check the box to "Run this program as an administrator"

5) Apply...OK...then restart the program and try again

Steam Train,

Thank you for your reply - that fixed the problem.

the activation screen comes up and then a blue dot and then its stalls out - the desk top program from turbo tax  from what I am reading for windows 10 is a piece of work - I have tried it two different processes to download it and it will not activate - do not reply with any issues with my system - its turbo tax that is the problem - I am returning this product to get my money back-

from what is being stated - in comments from lots of people trying use this program -- it does not work for the average user -- as you can read in some comments on replies- you need to run your system as a admin - now how many average users would even know who to do that -- this is why TTax is not user friendly any more

I cannot enter real estate taxes or estimates.  The blue dot in the amount column will not let me enter.  If I go to the actual form to enter it will copy it there but doesn't record

with all the problems that the TT company has induced into their product for creating a tax filing - I will never again use turbo tax  - there are too many other programs by other companies that have the same type of IRS acceptant of their tax programs and they do not have the problems from this intuit company - I have talked to some professional tax people on their thoughts about turbo tax- first thing they do is smile and then bust out into laughter - they say stay away from TT- if the professional wont use it, neither shall I -- one blog I was on a TT CS person was blaming the end user for the problems for their crappy program - this is when I realize not to ever go back to use it

The screen comes up TurboTax home and business 2020-Activation.  And has a blue dot in middle. What do I do

You have to click on the box using a mouse.  The blue dot means the box does not respond to touch screen type entries (your finger on the computer screen).  You have the select the box the old fashioned way, guiding the mouse arrow to box and using an enter key.  That opens the box to let you type the numbers.

what I have seen - is the CS people of T Tax will say you have caused the problem- they make u jump thru hoops on trying to solve their issues ---- what I have come to realize on what turbo tax did is  they put out a product that was truly not ready for prime time and needed more debugging, so they decided to let the paying retail customers be their beta tested and figure out as many issues that arise from their poorly design - poorly workable  software product - - blue dot is just the start of it -- I finally took the TT product back to Costco - as they were not happy about it, as I looked over behind the return desk on the shelve, there was a stack of returned Tax products for tax filing - the company intuit   apparently has reached a point where the tail is waging the body but the tail is causing the entire company to go down like the titanic -  I tried to get TT to aloud the license key to be used for on line - same program and they stated no - that's means behind the curtain the monkeys of TT know the off the store shelve product is corrupted.
