How do you get back to where you left off? I've been going around in circles for two sessions just trying to find where I left off.

If you haven't already finished filing your return, and would like to pick up where you left off, follow the steps below (First log out):

  1. Sign back into your TurboTax account.
  2. Click Take me to my return.
  3. Choose Pick up where I left off.

If you do not see those options:

Try this:

  • Sign into your account
  • Click on the My TurboTax menu and select  Visit My Tax Timeline
  • Under SOME THINGS YOU CAN DO click on Add a state. (You are not really adding a state to your return but this allows you to get back into your return.)

Honestly, this is ridiculous I've lost an hour trying to figure out how to get where I left off with the walking you through the process.  I do not see anywhere the prompts you are talking about.  It should be easier and extremely obvious.

Please help ASAP my time is limited.

Signed frustrated...and this isn't even the complicated part...geez!

Three methods

  • Using the magnifying glass/ search box is a great way to get around.
  • You can click on the major section - federal or state - and then choose what you work on.
  • You can also go to tax tools, then tools then topic list and you can see what you have done. Click on the section you want to return to.

It depends.

You can log back into TurboTax and go to the federal interview section.

You can select the overall sections on the top of the program such as Income & Expenses and Deductions & Credits and just scroll through the overall sections to ensure you have input your information.

You would see values in the 2019 section as shown in the sample picture above if you have information entered in the sections.

Once you review the overall sections, you can just select Wrap up income etc and the program will take you to the next overall section so you can complete and file your return.

Be sure to go through the Review step as an overall check of your return before filing.

When you sign in to your TurboTax Online return, the landing page will show the ''Pick up where I left off'' option.   If you are inside your return already, you can click on Tax Home in the left menu at any time and be taken to this page.

Many people have multiple TT accounts and forget how to access them.  Log out of the account you are in now.

Or did you use the desktop version of TurboTax?  If so, the files are on your own hard drive or any backup device you used like a flash drive.
