To clarify, you applied for insurance with the Marketplace but did not ultimately have insurance with them and they issued you a Form 1095-A with zeroes in all fields?
If this is not correct, please share more details, so we may better assist.

So I originally received a 1095-A . However I did not apply for the market place insurance, it was opened without my consent. It was fraud. They have now sent me a new form, the same form but the Void box is marked as they looked into my account and seen it was in fact fraud. So they told me since they issues the voided return I did not have to mark it on my return. I filed the return and it was rejected due to missing the 1095. They stated I needed to input the form or show proof of the void or explanation of why the form should not be included.  So I need to upload the voided form to be included with my taxes .

Sometimes there is a lag in the updates to the database at the Marketplace after corrections, or until the IRS receives the updates.
TurboTax does not transmit an actual Form 1095-A but uses it for calculations on Form 8962. We do not have a way to transmit a Voided form.

  • To e-file the return, it is OK to create a Form 1095-A with minimal information in it to satisfy the IRS for e-file purposes. If you use this method, and it contradicts what the Marketplace has on record, then you may receive a CP2000 Notice from the IRS and they will provide instructions for sending the voided form.
  • Or you can file the return by mail and include the voided form.

To create a workaround for the e-file:

  1. Select Deductions & Credits from the left menu
  2. Scroll down to Medical and Select Show More
  3. Select Start or Revisit for Affordable Care Act (Form 1095-A)
  4. As you walk through the questions, you'll be asked if you received a Form 1095-A. Even though you did not receive this form, select Yes
  5. Enter 0's for the Marketplace identifier and policy number, and $1 for the January amounts
  6. Continue through to the end of the questionnaire
  7. Select File from the left menu and continue through the process to refile your return

Thank you.

Is there no way to attach a PDF version? Thats what they recommended.

I am afraid there is no way to upload the document. You enter it into the software and it uses it to calculate the Form 8962, which is included in an e-file. The IRS e-file system has particular formatting for what they will receive.

I believe this is the first year they have used Voided forms and there may not be a robust process for it yet.

Customer would need to delete all 1095-a forms and try to efile again. If rejected, they would need to print and mail in their return with a copy of the voided 1095-a and a written statement.

Can the tax preparer upload the documents even if my taxes are accepted. The IRS agent told me my tax preparer had the software to upload the documents even if my return was accepted. I am waiting for a letter from the IRS to fax those documents. Told it was sent out on the 26th of February. Gave tax preparer voided 1095A on Feb20. No update on any transcripts or wmr. Only update I have is an As of Date of 3/17 on an account transcript I didn’t have last week . Thank you in advance.

There is no way to upload a 1095-A through TurboTax. It sounds like your tax return is being examined by the IRS and that the agent is dealing with your preparer, who can upload documents through the tax professionals portal. This is a situation only your tax preparer can address with you.

I guess you could ask her to show you when she transmitted the  voided 1095-A. Other than that, you can follow up with the IRS yourself.
