how do I share a my TurboTax desktop software?

My daughter lives in Virginia and I live in Florida.  When I purchased Turbo Tax Desktop, I understood I could have my daughter use one of the copies that came with the software.  How do I do that?

First, technically, the license says you can install the software on multiple computers that you own, and you can prepare as many returns as you want (as long as you don't charge a fee), and e-file the first 5.  The license does not say you can give a copy to a friend or relative to install on their computer.

Assuming you are going to violate the license, you need to locate the installer file (an .EXE for windows and a .DMG for Mac) and get that file to your daughter.  Although you can't generally email attachments that large, there are several file transfer services that can be used to share large files, some are free and some are subscription, or you could load the installer file on some type of physical media and mail it to your daughter.

If you have the installation CD, I would recommend mailing it to her in the sleeve containing the serial #. That way she can install it correctly since it will prompt her to enter the serial # in order to install it. It will then also upload all the updates needed to bring it up to date with current laws and regulations, etc.

If you downloaded the program instead of an installation CD, then you will probably need to give your daughter the necessary information needed to log into your Intuit account and download the program. When logged in, she will need to find the eligible TT program your purchased and follow the download prompts. You might need to be on the phone with her and have your email open or text messaging available so that you can relay any needed 2-factor authentication to her.
