What were the circumstances that led to the IRS adding taxes or fees to a 14 year old return (if that actually did happen)? Typically, the statute of limitations is 3 years after the return is filed, 6 years if there is a substantial underreporting of income). There is no limit if fraud is involved or a return was never filed.
