I have been using TurboTax Home & Business for years and have updated the 2020 software to the latest version. I have entered everything in for my Photography business as I do every year--I file as a Sole Proprietor. However, I received no prompts for entering the SBA EIDL Advance of $1,000 I received last year in either the Federal Return area or California Return area of TurboTax Home & Business. The only place I can find to add in the EIDL Advance is in the "Other Adjustments to Income" item below the Heading that reads "Here's the income that California handles differently". Alternatively, I am wondering if I should enter in the $1,000 EIDL Advance under the "Other Adjustments" section (in the California Taxes portion) that reads "Enter any other adjustments for this business (Photography).
I think in the end it may not need to be added for CA taxes now that Governor Gavin Newsom signed a bill (AB 80)?
"California conforms to federal income tax treatment of PPP loans and EIDL advance grants"
That is correct. California bill A.B. 80 provides that Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) advance grants received under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act and the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021 are not included in gross income.
