How do I report income in case of a divorce during the year?

We were divorced in July. I was told that we each have to report combined income up to the date of divorce, then individual income for the remainder of the year. Is that correct? If so, how do you do that in TurboTax?

No, that is incorrect.   If you were divorced by the end of 2024, you will each be filing Single for 2024, or if one of you has custody of the children one of you might be able to file Head of Household.    You cannot file as married for part of the year.   Your marital status for your tax return is determined as of the last day of the year.

Unless you have a qualified dependent to claim, your filing status changes to Single.   It is best to start a new account with a new user ID.   It is too difficult to delete the embedded information from a spouse if you use the same account that was used for past joint returns.
