An inheritance received by the named beneficiary of a deceased person is not taxable or reportable on any income. There are exceptions for things like a 401(k), certain types of annuities and the such. But in those cases the administrator of such an inheritance would send the beneficiary recipient the appropriate tax reporting document, such as a 1099-R maybe.
