Designating $3 for the Presidential Election Campaign Fund doesn't affect your tax liability or your refund, but you can say "no" if you wish.

To remove the $3 designation for the Presidential Election Campaign Fund:

  • Continue working on your return in TurboTax Online. (If your return isn't open, you'll need to sign in and click Take me to my return.)
  • Click Tax Tools (lower left side of your screen).
  • Select Tools (under Tax Tools).
  • In the pop-up window, select Topic Search.
  • In the I'm looking for: box, type presidential.
  • In the results box, scroll down and highlight presidential election campaign fund, then click GO.
  • You'll land on Do you want to designate $3 to a presidential campaign fund? (Click the screenshot below to enlarge it for reference.) Select No and click Continue.

I want to contribute to the presidential campaign but I am prevented from changing the form default (not checked). The instructions below don't work for 2020

While you are signed into your TurboTax account search in the upper right of your screen > Type presidential > select the Jump to link

  • See the image below for assistance.
