How do i pay california state tax? I think I chose to just send them payment later or paper form, can i pay it through https://www.ftb.ca.gov/online/payment_choices.shtml

If i go through the website will it pull my information? Also, am I assuming April 15th will be the last day and if so would at that point they just take the money from somewhere else such as my bank account or paycheck?

Yes, use https://www.ftb.ca.gov/online/payment_choices.shtml to pay your California income tax liability.

If you use the California Franchise Tax Board's (FTB) website, you will enter your personal and payment information as requested (no information will be pulled from any other location).

To avoid interest and penalties, the last day to pay your tax liability in full is April 18, 2017.

Withdrawal of your funds will be based upon the bank account, credit card, amount and date (specified by you). Tax payment will not be taken from your paycheck.



  • Web Pay – Make a payment from your checking or savings account.
  • Credit card – Pay with your Discover, MasterCard, Visa, or American Express card. Official Payments Corporation charges a fee for this service. 
  • Western Union – Pay online, by phone, or in person at one of their worldwide offices. Western Union charges a fee for this service.
  • Check or money order – Mail your payment or pay in person at a field office. 
  • Installment agreement request – If you are financially unable to pay the balance in full, you may be eligible to make monthly payments.
  • Delay My Bill Payment - You may be eligible to delay your bill payment for 30 days from today. Interest and penalties apply until the balance is paid in full.
