I claim my daughter every other year. The third stimulus amount that I received was for $1400 which did not include the dependent portion of $1400 for my daughter. Since my daughter's mom received that, I do not believe that I am also entitled to it. Turbo tax is calculating that I should have received $2800. Then it is asking me to enter the portion of what I actually received. Since I got only $1400, that is what I am entering, however turbo tax is trying to add on the additional $1400 for my daughter to my refund. How can I override this?
No, Do not override the amount. You are eligible for the payment. The IRS says:
Q E15. Dependents: Can my 2021 Recovery Rebate Credit include an amount for a qualifying dependent if the dependent received the third Economic Impact Payment or someone else received the third Economic Impact Payment for the dependent? (added January 13, 2022)
A15. Yes, if you meet the eligibility requirements to claim the 2021 Recovery Rebate Credit. The amount of your credit may include up to $1,400 for a qualifying dependent you are claiming on your 2021 return.
