How do I located a copy of my 2023 extension filing? I used my 2022 Mac desktop software to file the extension

Please explain.   2022 software cannot be used for a 2023 tax return.  What did you do--or think you did?

Did you efile or mail the extension?  You can not efile an extension from the Desktop software.  The extension will only be in your 2022 program if you saved it.  I just opened my 2022 program and made an Extension.  Didn't  you notice it says 2022 at the top right of form 4868?  

Did you pay a tax due amount when you mailed the extension?  I don't know what they will do with it.  You better look up your account at the IRS and check.  

If you will be getting a refund it will not matter whether you have an extension; you have three years to file a tax return if you are getting a refund.  But if you owe tax due, and did not correctly file your 2023 extension or pay the estimated 2023 tax due, you are now simply late and will be subject to late filing penalties and interest on the amount you owe to the IRS.
