How do I know if I will owe taxes for self employment?

If I add a income as self employment (independent contractor) will I still owe the IRS or does turbo tax calculate what I owe and take it off what I'm getting back?

TurboTax will calculate any self-employment taxes and add them to your tax bill.  They will be subtracted from any refund you are getting.
