How do I get TurboTax update to install without hanging my computer?

I finally got TurboTax itself to install by rolling back some Windows 10 updates. But now it wants to update when it starts. I downloaded the patch but it hangs anytime I run it. I can't even start the program.

tt and win 10

 

it may be that some of the WIN 10 updates you uninstalled are needed especially .net framework

I was able to talk with tech support. We worked through various options and finally went to this issue regarding installer:

We worked through these steps and eventually I was able to get the patches installed and run. I'm still not sure exactly what worked, but something finally did the trick.

I don't think its a windows issue.  Encountered a similar problem with the program.  On startup, updated program but when I attempted to transmit taxes another request was made to update turbo tax which resulted in a message "waiting for installer service."  I looked at a variety of "community" suggestions.  Cleaning browser, stopping malware or other programs looking at tasks, and restarting didn't solve the problem.  Looking at the msiexec.exe file, I suspect that Turbotax was the "running program."  I contact TurboTax and was issued a new downloadable program obviously necessitating uninstalling the original from CD.  Success!  This is the second year in a row i have had major program issues with Turbo Tax.  What surprises me is that it is 3/15 and I had to initiate a solution.  This issue might be related to New York State tax returns.
