When you enter your date of birth in My Info it shows that by the end of tax year you were 65 or older.

  • Then the software uses a 1040 SR.
  • The 1040SR is exactly the same as the "regular" 1040 ; however, the print is bigger.
  • All of the calculations are done the same way.
  •  Your refund or tax due are not affected in any way whether you use Form 1040 or Form 1040 SR.
  • When you print it will print on the 1040 SR even if you see only the 1040 on the screen.
  • You automatically get the 1040SR if you or your spouse is 65 or older.
  • In the Desktop program you can tell it which one to print.
