Second return for someone else?  Or you got another form like a W2 or 1099?  Have you already filed the first one?

This is for a separate return.  I want to submit a second Federal return for another member of family.

Online is only good for 1 return per account.  But you can use the same email address for 5 accounts.   How to start another return in the Online version

Thats why if you need to do more than 1 return we recommend you buy the Desktop CD/Download program.  It can do unlimited returns and efile 5 for free.  And you can buy a lower version.  All the Desktop programs have the same forms. You just get more help and guidance in the higher versions.

I have the CD version of Turbo Tax Deluxe.  If I click "Start a New Return", does that start a second return?  Or does it re-start my first return?

To start a new return go up to FILE - New.  But first be sure to save your return with a unique name so it doesn’t get confused with another return.  Go to File-Save or Save As.  Because if you do another return and they have the same first name or initial as you their return might save over yours.

And be in the habit of saving Frequently!  When you are done save both the .tax data file and save it as a pdf file, go to File-Save to PDF.  Then you won’t need the program installed to view or print your return in the future.  Like if you need a copy to get a loan or something.  And save backups off of your computer like to a flash drive or burn a CD.
