How do I get 'administrator' privileges so that I can update the installation?

I try to start TurboTax, but it wants to update the file. I agree, but it fails because I don't have 'administrator' privileges. How do I get 'administrator' privileges?

That depends on how you set up and use your Mac or PC.  You will need to look at various support options for Mac OS or Windows.

can't help with MACs or an employer PC but if it's your personal PC you can try this.

Go to the control panel in the start menu and click on it.  scroll down to user accounts and click on this. In the new window, you'll see a link to change your account type. click on this. in the next window, change to administrator and then click on the link to change account type.   Reboot. The ability to do this may be limited because of other settings on your PC
