How do I fix my taxes that were rejected?

My taxes were rejected and it says that one of the Social Security numbers on my return has already been claimed or filed their own taxes or something like that but nobody has permission to claim myself my husband or my daughter the 3 of us have been on the same taxes for the last three years how do I fix it?

A duplicate SSN cannot be fixed.   The only way you can file and claim all of the children is to file by mail.   The IRS will have to sort out the duplicate use of the SSN, which may have been used by someone else by mistake (or maybe on purpose..).

Print, sign and date your return in ink, and mail it in.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.

Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses.  Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.

Did your daughter file her own tax return?  If so, did she remember to indicate on it that she could be claimed as a dependent by someone else?
