Mine has been rejected twice now, I am too old and not a student for mom to claim me, so she files amended return but for some reason IRS keeps rejecting mine due to my SS # was on my moms original filing.
Even if Mom amends, your SSN is now in the system and the only way for you to file and say you cannot be claimed, is to file by mail. Waiting for her amended return to be processed will not help you.
Print, sign and date your return in ink, and mail it in.
When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.
Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses. Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.
You will have to print and mail your tax return since the IRS has already received a tax return with your Social Security number. The IRS will process your tax return as received.
