Gift cards you receive from Mobee is taxable as other income.  If the value of your rewards was $600 or more, you should have received a Form 1099-MISC.  If you did not receive a Form 1099-MISC then report as Other Income in TurboTax as follows:

  • Type "Other Income" in Search and hit Enter
  • Click on "Jump to other income"
  •  Answer "No" to "Did you get a 1099-MISC"
  • Continue through the interview till you get to "Less Common Income" and click on it.
  • Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on "Start" next to "Miscellaneous Income, ..."
  • Click on Start next to "Other reportable income"
  • Answer Yes to "Any Other Taxable Income?"
  • Give a description (Shopping Rewards) and enter the amount
  • The amount will be reported as "Other Income" on Schedule 1 of Form 1040

If you are actually doing tasks to get paid through the Mobee app, then this would count as income for the EITC.

Do I qualify for it?

Do you qualify for the Earned income tax credit?   Or do you qualify to receive income from the Mobee app?

In TurboTax Online, to qualify for the Earned Income Credit, you would report dependent information (if any) under My Info down the left side of the screen.

You would enter your income (including income per @DavidD66  above) under Federal and Wages & Income down the left side of the screen.

You would answer questions to qualify for the Earned income tax credit under Federal and Deductions & Credits and Earned Income Credit (EIC).  These are the same criteria outlined by @VanessaA above.

Or do you qualify to receive income from the Mobee app?

Are you able to go in the app to see:

  • Whether you were issued a 1099-MISC, or
  • How much income you earned from the Mobee app if you earned less than $600 in 2023?

If your only income is $10, you won't be eligible for the Earned Income Credit.

It depends. Do you have other earned income besides the few dollars from the Mobee App?

See this TurboTax tips article for more information about the Earned Income Credit. TurboTax can calculate the credit for you. To claim the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), you must have what qualifies as earned income and meet certain adjusted gross income (AGI) limits. Depending on your income and age, you may need at least one child in order to qualify.

Generally:

  • If you earned less than $63,698 (if Married Filing Jointly) or $56,838 (if filing as an individual, surviving spouse or Head of Household) in tax year 2023, you may qualify for the Earned Income Credit (EIC). These amounts increase to $66,819 and $59,899, respectively, for 2024.
  • If you received more than $11,000 in investment income or income from rentals, royalties, or stock and other asset sales during 2023, you can't qualify for the EIC. This amount increases to $11,600 in 2024.
  • You have to be 25 or older but under 65 to qualify for the EIC. You also have to have lived in the United States for more than half of the year and can't be a dependent of another person.
  • In 2023, you can earn up to $17,640 ($24,210 if married and filing a joint) with no qualifying children. For 2024, these amounts increase to $18,591 and $25,511, respectively.
