If you have a 6 digit PIN issued to you by the IRS you need to enter it in order to e-file.  Go to Federal>Other Tax Situations>Other Return Info>Identity Protection PIN and enter the six-digit PIN.

To enter your IRS protection pin in TurboTax, follow these steps:

  1. Login to TurboTax
  2. In the search box in the top right corner, type "Identity Protection Pin"
  3. Click Jump to Identity Protection Pin
  4. Click Yes for you received an Identity Protection Pin from the IRS
  5. Click the edit icon next to the name the pin is for
  6. Enter Pin number

I appreciate the reply but just to clarify, the heading to select is "Federal TAXES">Other Tax situations>Other return info>Identity protection PIN>Update.  Looked every where to include Turbo search for a tab "Federal" then other tax situations.  May seem obvious to some but delayed me for some time and Turbo search did not help at all.  Moreover, the IRS apparently uses IP Pin (Identity Protection personal protection number} in cases of fraud or possible fraud.
