How do I determine number of dependents on my W4?

My daughter is no longer our dependent. I filed married jointly with my wife, but i make the bulk of the income. Should I claim 1 dependent (my wife) on my W4? We ended up having to pay a large sum in federal this year.

During life changes such as no longer claiming a dependent, its a good time to re-visit our W-4 calculator.  You'll want to fill out your personal information as married, married filing jointly, and the ages of you and your spouse.  Your spouse should not be listed as a dependent because you cannot claim your spouse as a dependent on the tax return.  Make sure to have your more recent paystub and your most recent tax return to fill out the information about income and credits. Lastly, make sure your employer made the changes on your next paystub.
