Did you e-file the Georgia state tax return and if so, was it

accepted

by the state?

Sign onto your TurboTax online account and the status of the state tax return will be displayed - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/

Yes it was accepted, yes it shows on their website as the amount owed but no option to cancel or postpone. I called and nothing

I can only suggest that you call again and see if you can find out why they cannot cancel your payment if it is showing on their website.

They cannot cancel it because it doesn't show in their system as an upcoming payment. turbotax has that scheduled and I'm assuming they'll facilitate that payment at the time. But turbotax has no option to cancel either

Right...Canceling through TurboTax is not an option.  All that TurboTax does is pass the bank information and the payment date to the state when the tax return is e-fled.

I find it a bit odd that you cannot cancel the state tax payment with the Georgia DOR.  The IRS has a facility for canceling a federal tax payment and a toll free phone number to facilitate the cancellation request from the taxpayer.

I would keep checking GA DOR website for your account information.

Louisiana is the same thing. I have scheduled the payment to them through TurboTax for 5/15, but want to pay it early. Neither site have a way to cancel anything. I'm worried that if I pay what is owed through Louisiana's website, Turbotax payment will also go through.

Yes, unless you can cancel with a human being, they will take the refund you had scheduled even though you have a zero balance as your payment ahead of that could be applied to 2025 payments.

Contact LA -  good luck

LA DOR does offer this: Login to LaTAP as soon as possible and click on the blue “Requests” link. Here you will see a list of requests waiting to be processed, as well as those that have already been processed. If the payment in question is still waiting to be processed or pending, you can click on the blue payment link to open a new screen that will allow you to cancel the request by clicking on the “Withdraw” button. On the requests screen, you can also search for the request by confirmation number.

There is no blue Requests link and I am not expecting a refund. I do see the balance that I owe and can make that payment through the Louisiana website. But, if I do that, I do not want the payment setup through Turbo Tax to be made also.

You can contact the Louisiana Department of Revenue to do this. You can contact the Louisiana Department of Revenue at 1-855-307-3893.
