Did you receive any Advance credit (column C of the 1095-A)?
@amcgaug, I'm running into the same situation. Did you find a solution? I'm thinking about sending it by mail, so I don't have to upgrade to Deluxe or buy a CD at Costco.
WHY DO I HAVE TO PAY? I WANT THE FREE EDITION
The information that you can enter in Free Edition is pretty limited now. Thanks to the new tax laws, there are no more simple Form 1040EZ or 1040A's. Everything goes on a little Form 1040 that has six extra "schedules" with it, and if you need any of those schedules, you are not able to use the Free Edition.

If you qualify to use it, there is another free version of the software:
Try Free File:
You qualify if your income was $34,000 or less, or $66,000 or less if active duty military, or if you qualify for Earned Income Credit

Note: If you do not qualify to use Free File then you will have to upgrade to Deluxe or higher in the paid versions of the software.
Because you have already received some Premium Tax Credit, you are required to file Form 8962 with your tax return. If it is telling you that you need to upgrade because of that, there is no way around it.
If you were to not enter your 1095-A at all, the IRS would send you a notice asking for your 1095-A and Form 8962 and they would NOT process your tax return until you responded. If you were due a refund, it would be significantly delayed.
Thank you. Turbotax really knows how to sneak in these required upgrades on their FREE service
What a rip off. They say to START for free. But, in the end, you have to pay to get what you need. I'm going to H&R Block. All I have is W-2's and 2 dependents. There is no excuse for a charge.
I just entered all my son's info into H & R Block and guess what - SAME exact problem, so people who can't afford insurance on their own, now have to pay to file their taxes - Oh ya that makes sense, plus everyone is getting less back this year - thanks Biden for changing the laws so low income people get stuck, and thanks for raising taxes.
