How do I apply EFTPS payments that I made using Intuit For Small Business

I have Intuit For small business and made a payment for 2016 4th quarter for about 5500.  How do I apply that amount already paid to my turbo taxes for 2016.  I do not see any place where i can apply that amount.  However will I recover that amount for this year>

You will enter this as an estimated tax payment made in the personal section of your TurboTax (even if the payment was made for your self employed business).  You can enter your estimated taxes paid in 2016 - these are are payments you made to go toward your 2016 federal tax liability  (Form 1040-ES), by using the search feature in the top right hand corner of your screen and searching for "estimated tax payments" and click the "jump to" link.  This will bring you right to the appropriate section.

You can also find the section by clicking on the following tabs:

  • Federal Taxes (or Personal if using Self Employed)
  • Deductions and Credits
  • You may have to click "Show All" or Check for More credits to get full list to appear
  • Scroll down to Estimates and Other Taxes Paid
  • Scroll down to Estimates, click Start/Update/Revisit to the right of this category (see screenshot below)
  • Enter your 2016 Paid Estimated Taxes
