How come I didn’t pay for turbo tax last year but this year it’s saying to pay to file?

In the regular Turbo Tax Free Edition, information that you can enter is limited now. Why do I have to upgrade from the Free Edition?

Or try the IRS Free File

You will also need to pay to transmit your state return. But you have the option to print it and mail it in.

@Tracy00   The posting person indicated they are using the "Online" software. When using any of the paid versions of the "Online" software, you pay for the state software. no matter whether you are paper-filing it , or e-filing it.....i.e no extra charge to e-file.

Only the desktop software has you paying $20-$25 to e-file the state forms (except NY)....but allowed to paper-file your forms to avoid that fee.
