How can I switch from TurboTax Self-Employed back to the free version of TurboTax? I am no longer self-employed and I can't find how to change it back.

All that I can find on TurboTax is how to upgrade my account even more. It won't let me downgrade back to the standard free version, and I'm not sure how to do that.

If you have not paid for the online edition you are using, have not filed your tax return or registered the Free edition, then you can clear your return and start over with a lower priced edition. Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the program screen while working on the 2022 online tax return. Click on Clear & Start Over.

What if I’m not self employed but am being charged for it? I did file but it’s been rejected.

Once the tax return has been completed and filed, even if the return was rejected after filing, in most all cased the online account fees cannot be refunded or reduced for a lower priced edition.

But you can contact TurboTax support as they are the ones who can deal directly with this issue.  Use the key words Billing Issue when contacting support.
