How can I reduce the size of the screen in order to scan down(on a MacBookPro)

Press and hold the control key.  Then rotate the roller on your mouse to enlarge or reduce screen size.

Did not work on a Mac.  has no effect at all.

The correct way is to change the screen resolution from optimum to the highest possible resolution.  I.e.  this means changing the built in display from 1152x720 to 1440x900.  This shrinks the picture so that it shows all of the intuit screen and you are able to see the cancel or save button to exit.
