How can I owe $1857 in tax due on adjusted gross income of $$3696 , after the standard deduction ?

My total income is is an annuity , have I placed it in the wrong box because my taxes are almost 50% of it. ?

Remove wherever you keyed in the annuity, and re-enter it in Federal > Wages and Income > Retirement. And be sure to carefully check the answers to the follow up questions.
