TuboTax 2017 Premier stopped working sometime ago, I think it was after the last update. Today was the day I set aside to resolve the issue, with no luck whatsoever. I'm fairly technical and have diligently searched and tried everything I can find on AnswerXchange, I have uninstalled, reinstalled from the disc, the program then automatically updates. It then stops working when I launch TurboTax. I have uninstalled, reinstalled from the disc, and then updated the software manually, restarted and then the software updates the state program. When I restart TurboTax, it stops working. I have uninstalled, used the system file checker (all is well) and after install from the disc and update, it stops working. In all cases the updates appear to end successfully. The one thing that is weird... After all updates, TurboTax is not launched automatically, I must click on the Icon to start it. The event viewer lists the following error whenever Turbotax stops: - Provider [ Name] Application Error - EventID 1000 [ Qualifiers] 0 Level 2 Task 100 Keywords 0x80000000000000 - TimeCreated [ SystemTime] 2018-03-09T04:06:49.310712100Z EventRecordID 503417 Channel Application Computer DellLapMike Security - EventData TurboTax.exe 2017.45.20.471 5a9d46ea ttax.dll 2017.45.20.471 5a9d4675 c0000409 008385d6 c04 01d3b75c044a0d17 C:\Program Files (x86)\TurboTax\Premier 2017\32bit\TurboTax.exe C:\Program Files (x86)\TurboTax\Premier 2017\32bit\ttax.dll 242c292a-b8eb-4870-aed4-1cd669cf91bb

Here is more information:
I started getting the same exception code and wasn't able to track down the problem. I did find that TurboTax 2017 Premier seems to run without problems using other accounts. I think that some setting I did in the original account either broke something for the account
or set things so TurboTax gets the exception.
The Intuit people had me check that I had some fonts that their
use of PDF files need and a few other things, but nothing was found.
(The also had me in install and reinstall TurboTax with no luck.)
The system is running Windows 7 Professional.
My work-around is to use another account for doing my taxes.
Also: The machine has TurboTax 2016 and 2015, and they both work fine.
