You will need to enter that manually on the paper form you will need to mail. Ignore the missing SS# errors you will get later since you have to print & mail the return.

Does Intuit have any plans to allow NRA in the Social Field for Tax year 2021? If not is this under consideration? This small change would greatly help me and others in this situation. Otherwise I would consider filing under a platform that will allow it. Printing it and mailing it in is a nightmare. Especially if you are due a refund.

If you are filing using the Married Filing Separately (MFS) status, you may be able to e-file your return this year.

In TurboTax 2021, please look for the below screen when entering information about your nonresident alien spouse.

Note that you will still continue to get an error notice regarding the missing social security number, but once this is your only item in error-check, the program should allow you to proceed to e-file your return.

Thanks or the feedback @SusanY1. I am filing MFJ. I will still give your option a try and see if it will work as I've already bought the software, unfortunately. If it doesn't work, I'm going to scrap it and move to TaxAct so I can E-file.

Sadly, I am still awaiting our refund for 2020 after being required to mail it in due to the lack of NRA being an option for the SSN field. It's been at the IRS since August of 2020. We can really use that refund. So I don't wish to deal or go through this again...
