How can I file my return late if I cannot pay after the due date through turbo tax. I DID file an extension.

i know I can pay the fees and tax I owe through the IRS website but how do I get the actual tax documents from turbo tax to the IRS?

You just complete your tax return using the TurboTax program edition you started.  The 2016 federal tax return can be e-filed using TurboTax at any time on or before October 16, 2017.  A 2016 tax return can be printed and mailed at any time.

There are several options on how to pay the taxes owed using TurboTax at the time of filing the tax return.  You can pay by check or money order with a payment voucher, Form 1040-V, mailed to the IRS.  You can choose direct debit from your bank account using the bank routing and account number which would be included with your tax return and where the IRS would debit your bank account.  You can pay by credit card (service fees apply).  Or you can pay directly through the IRS website - https://www.irs.gov/payments

Note - if you choose to pay the federal taxes owed through the IRS website, then use the option in TurboTax to pay the taxes owed by check or money order to be mailed.  Then do not mail the payment.
