How can I eFile using a CAF number?

I have setup a CAF number so I can prepare and submit my elderly father's 1040 each year. However, I don't see a way to eFile with TurboTax using a CAF number.  Can somebody specify how to eFile with a CAF number?

Thank you.

If you are filing a return on anothers behalf, you need to have Power of Attorney.

A CAF number is something issued to Practitioners and is an IRS Central Authorization File number.

Hmmmm.  I submitted the PoA when I applied for the CAF.

My question remains.... can a 1040 be eFiled using TurboTax with a CAF number?

Thank you.

The CAF number has nothing to do with efiling.  This is only used in IRS communication.  You can file with a POA, but the POA would need to be mailed in.

TT is a DIY  income tax program and there is no place to enter in your third party authorization unless you mail in the return with the POA .... or ... if you are not a paid tax pro  and are just  "helping" your dad complete his return then "he" can e-sign the return  in the program by picking a 5 digit number to be his signature and efile the return ... just follow the screen instructions in the FILE tab.  Many family members "help" their loved ones complete their  returns ... I would use this option.
